I am a full-time web developer and have been involved in web development for over three years, doing both front-end design and back-end programming. I've helped build school, government, and corporate websites as well as online course and testing systems.
I'm a writer at heart, though, and have been writing stories since I was six years old. I previously maintained a detailed blog about traveling, teaching, and immigration. While that blog is no longer actively updated, it can still be found at
Clark Nielsen for the Win.
In addition to the blog, I've self-published two major books. The first, The Second Page, is a
comical fantasy adventure. The other book is about my experiences
teaching and living in China called Yes China! Both are available in paperback or e-book form.
Another passion of mine is game development. I started out making simple PC games but later jumped into the Xbox indie scene with two recent releases: Bub Block and Craftimals: Build to the Sun. Under the name
Roppy Chop Studios, I've been keeping a development blog of my progress.
While I'm no longer pursuing music, I have written songs in the past. There's a collection of
original MIDIs, an album created entirely with
Electroplankton on the Nintendo DS, and another soundtrack made using the
Korg DS-10 Synthesizer, all available to download for free!
I also enjoy, on and off, being a part of the short filmmaking process. I studied editing and animation in school and have worked on several live-action, 3D, and clay-animated shorts. Below are a few examples:
